Project Statement
Fit headphones is a project in which we were instructed to create a pair of headphones using AI. The headphones were supposed to have a unique feature that is targeted towards a specific audience, and we were given a lot of room to be creative. I chose to focus on headphones for working out.
Solution
Sweaty ears, distractions on your phone, and earpieces that push down on your ears are distractions that hurt your focus when you are working out. FIT headphones solve all of these problems with our custom features, making sure that your listening experience while working out or doing any other task is seamless and comfortable.
AI Experimentation
My experimentation with AI was a great learning experience because it taught me that AI will not do your job for you unless you know how to write very in-depth prompts. There were so many failed generations that I had to write new prompts for. I also uploaded images that I had drawn on my computer to create the shape and color of the headphones that I envisioned in my head.
“Create me headphones that look like the attached image. They are for a company called fit where you go into the store to get fitted for headphones that are custom to the user. I want them to be sleek and focused for people in the fitness industry. I also want the headphones to have soft, cushiony ear pieces with small holes in them for ventilation.”
Comparison
I took lots of inspiration from the Beats apps, the Apple Wallet, and Apple widgets. These all had the exact futuristic style that I was looking for. I also really liked their use of white space with pops of color on top.
Brand System
Fit headphones have a clean, sleek design system meant to look futuristic. I chose to have clean white backgrounds for the app and website, paired with curved cards and buttons. I also chose a typeface with curves to fit the design of the headphones and other features within the app. The headphones come in 5 clean colors to add a pop. I also specifically chose interesting words for the names of the features to catch the audience’s eye and stay on brand with the futuristic feeling of the brand.
Fit Scan Technology
With FIT’s custom FIT SCAN TECHNOLOGY, everyone will have their perfect-fitting headphones. Customers will come into our store for an appointment to get their heads scanned. In 2-3 weeks, the customer will be sent a pair of headphones that is formed specifically to their head shape. No adjusting, no folding, only comfort.
Mobile App and Launch Website
The FIT mobile app makes it easy for you to adjust all the features FIT has to offer. It has an adjustment for noise, the timer length, and the fan speed. You are able to set all these features up on the app before you start working out, and then turn them on and off with physical buttons on the headphones during a workout.
